F-14 TOMCAT FIGHTER JET NOW IN ONE PIECE’ AT ROME-BASED MUSEUM OF FLIGHT
The F-14 Tomcat fighter jet recently acquired by the Museum of Flight based at Rome’s Russell Regional Airport is now in one piece, reports Peter O’Hare, museum volunteer. He adds that the museum is ‘excited’ to showcase“Sweet Little Miss” to the people of Rome and Floyd County.
For a donation of $5, you can see the jet as well as the other historic aircraft on display at the Museum of Flight.
O’Hare attests that quite a lot of work has been done to put the F-14 Tomcat back together; a few finishing touches remain.
The fighter jet was donated to the Museum of Flight by the Virginia Aviation Museum in Richmond. This was the last one of its kind to land on an aircraft carrier.
The Museum of Flight is open each Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.mofts.org.
