Early voting continues in the July 24th runoff election.  It is being offered on weekdays through Friday, July 20th from 8 am until 5 pm at the Floyd County Elections Office, located inside the county’s Administration Building on East 4th Avenue, and at Garden Lakes Baptist Church, 2200 Redmond Circle.

Some 68 people cast their ballots in advance on Tuesday, according to Willie Green, Floyd County Elections Supervisor.

Voters in the Republican party will determine their candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State.  Democrats will select nominees for State School Superintendent and US House of Representatives.  Winners in the run-off election will advance to the general election in November.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp paid a visit to Rome on Tuesday as part of his “Putting Georgians First” bus tour.  Kemp faces run-off opposition from Casey Cagle; the candidate that wins the party’s nomination on July 24th will proceed to face Democrat Stacey Abrams in the election to determine the successor to Nathan Deal.

For more information about the July 24th election, or about advance voting, contact the Floyd County Elections Office at (706) 291-5167.
