The Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition and the 100 Black Men of Rome-Northwest Georgia have again teamed up to sponsor the annual Health Initiative for Men and Women. The event is slated to take place on Saturday, August 18th between the hours of 8 am to 12 noon at the Floyd County Health Department, 16 East 12th Street in Rome.
Attendees will have the opportunity to partake in health screenings, cooking classes and more at the 17th annual health fair, enthuses Erin Hernandez, Vice President of the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition.
An appointment must be made for mobile mammography; ladies are asked to call (706) 509-6840 and select option 1 to book an appointment.
Hernandez says that the Health Initiative has generated many success stories over the years. The event originated with the desire by the 100 Black Men of Rome-NWGA to promote prostrate screening among men.
The women’s component of the event was added four years ago after having been previously held as a separate health fair, adds Hernandez.
The 17th annual Health Initiative for Men and Women will also feature local vendors as well as chances to win door prizes. For more information, search for the event on Facebook.
