TWO AREA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAMS TO COMPETE FOR A STATE TITLE NEXT WEEK

The Georgia High School Association’s state championship games in football are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Rockmart and Cartersville remain as the lone high schools from this area that are still in the hunt for a state title. Rockmart’s Yellow Jackets will go head to head with Heard County in the Class AA state championship game at 1 pm on Wednesday; the Jackets will compete for their first state title since 1950.  The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes will face Blessed Trinity later that same day in the Class AAAA state championship game; kick off is set for 4:30 pm.

This year’s GHSA title matches were moved from this weekend to the middle of the week due to a conflict with the MLS Cup final scheduled to take place this Saturday at ‘The Benz’.
