The Atlanta Braves emerged victorious over the Washington Nationals 5-3 in 12 innings on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game set at Washington DC, denying the Nats a sweep of the Braves.

Atlanta was ultimately lifted to victory on a two-run, bases-loaded single off the bat of Peter Bourjos in the 12th.

Kurt Suzuki had a nice day at the plate with two solo home runs, one in the fourth and another in the 11th.  Ozzie Albies got the Braves on the board with a solo shot in the first.

The Braves are off today and will return to action on Friday with the opener of a three-game set in Chicago versus the Cubs.  First pitch is set for 2:20 pm at Wrigley Field.  We will join the game (in progress) upon the conclusion of the Rush Limbaugh Show at 3 pm on WLAQ AM 1410.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Charleston Riverdogs by a final score of 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at State Mutual Stadium.  The Braves will open their first road trip of the season with a match in Greenville, South Carolina against the Drive tonight at 7:05 pm.
