The Atlanta Braves wrapped up an eight-game road trip on Thursday with a loss to the Washington Nationals 6-3 in Washington DC, settling for an even 2-2 split in the four game set between the teams.

Things looked hopeful for the Braves as they took an early lead with a solo home run from Nick Markakis.  But it was all down hill from there as Anibal Sanchez left the game after two innings due to a calf injury.   His successors were faced with a Washington hit parade, led by Michael Taylor with a solo home run in the fourth.

Ronald Acuna Jr. kept hope alive for Atlanta with a solo home run in the top of the eighth.

But the Braves were outscored throughout the remainder of the ball game and ultimately lost the contest, again, by a final score of 6-3.

Wes Parsons was tagged with the loss in for Atlanta in his major league debut after giving up four runs and six hits, walking three and striking out three in five innings.  Gio Gonzalez got the win for Washington.

The Braves will return to SunTrust Park this evening to open an eleven-game homestand with a match versus the Milwaukee Brewers.  The game is slated to begin at 7:35 pm and will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is set for 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves blanked the Delmarva Shorebirds 5-0 on Thursday evening at State Mutual Stadium.  The Braves will welcome the West Virginia Power to town for a 7 pm outing tonight.
