ATLANTA BRAVES TO HOST MIAMI MARLINS THIS WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves were off on Thursday night and will return to action this weekend with a three-game set versus the Miami Marlins at SunTrust Park.  Sean Newcomb will get his second major league start for Atlanta in tonight’s series opener, while Dan Straily will serve as the starting pitcher for Miami.  First pitch is set for 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 6:20 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

This weekend’s series against the Marlins will open a 10-game homestand for Atlanta that will also include matches with the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers at the new “Home of the Braves”.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Augusta Greenjackets 7-2 in the finale of a three-game set at State Mutual Stadium on Thursday night, denying the Braves a sweep of the ‘Jackets.  The loss also eliminated the home team from winning the Sally League’s Southern Division title for the first half of the 2017 season.  The Braves will conclude this first half of the season with a three-game set against the Greenville Drive this weekend at SMS.  Tonight’s series opener is slated to get underway at 7 pm.
