The Atlanta Braves will open the second half of the 2017 season this evening versus the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game weekend set at SunTrust Park.  This will mark the D’backs’ first visit to the Braves’ new ballpark.  RA Dickey will serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta tonight, while Taijuan Walker will head to the mound for Arizona.  First pitch is slated for 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 6:20 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

Prior to the MLB All-Star Break, the Braves accumulated a 42-45 record for the first half of the season.  They begin the second half in second place of the National League East, nine and a half games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves’ game that was scheduled for Thursday night against the Lakewood BlueClaws was postponed due to rain in Lakewood Township, New Jersey.  It will be made up as part of a double header this evening at 5:05 pm.
