The Atlanta Braves fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 10-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a four game set at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI, allowing the Brewers to take the series 3-1.

Sean Newcomb was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and five hits in only three and two-third innings; he also walked four and struck out three.

Jesus Aguilar led the charge offensively for Milwaukee with two home runs, including a three-run shot in the eighth inning.

Hernan Perez clubbed a three-run homer in the Brewers’ five-run third.  Eric Thames delivered a pinch-hit solo home run in the eighth.

Freddie Freeman had a total of three hits on the day and drove in a run for the Braves, who are now basically locked in a tie with the Philadelphia Phillies in the race for the top spot of the National League East.

Thus ends a 10-game road trip that left the Braves with an even five wins and five losses.  The team has today off and will return to action on Tuesday night at SunTrust Park with the first of two interleague outings against the Toronto Blue Jays.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves dropped both matches of a twin bill with the Augusta Greenjackets on Sunday at State Mutual Stadium, 5-3 and 4-0.  The teams will meet tonight at 7 pm.
