LOCALS CONCERNED ABOUT RECEIVING STORM WARNINGS VIA CODERED WEATHER ALERT SYSTEM

Written by Elizabeth Davis. Posted in News & Weather

Many subscribers to Floyd County’s CodeRED weather alert system have reported that they did not receive warning of the storm that hit this area last Wednesday night (which has been classified as an EF-1 tornado).  Floyd County Emergency Management Agency Director Scotty Hancock told WLAQ News/The Ridge Report that the system is dependent on the National Weather Service, which affects whether or not those with CodeRED are alerted of impending severe weather.  He says it would be helpful if the NWS updated their system.
