Shorter University’s baseball Hawks are headed out west after being granted an at large bid to participate in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round.  It will be the 18th ranked Hawks’ first postseason appearance since 2003, according to a Shorter sports release.  Shorter, who finished fourth in the Southern States Athletic Conference regular season standings and third at the SSAC Tournament a couple of weeks ago, are headed for Los Angeles, California after nabbing the number two seed in the Azusa Bracket.  They’ll begin Opening Round play on Thursday at 6:30 pm Eastern Time against third-seeded College of Idaho from Caldwell, Idaho.  If the Hawks make it past opening round play, they’ll be on their way to Lewiston, Idaho for their first ever NAIA World Series appearance.
