Tonight’s the night of the 2018 MLB All-Star Game! This year’s Midsummer Classic is scheduled to take place at Nationals Park in Washington DC, home of the Washington Nationals.
The Atlanta Braves have sent four players to participate in the All-Star Game. Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis are in the National League’s starting line up, while Ozzie Albies is a reserve; Mike Foltynewicz has joined the league’s pitching squad.
The 89th annual MLB All-Star Game will be televised on FOX; coverage will begin at 7:30 pm.
In other All-Star news, Freddie Freeman made his first-ever appearance in the Home Run Derby on Monday night in DC. He fell 13-12 in the first round to hometown hero Bryce Harper, who proceeded to win the Derby.
WLAQ AM 1410 is Rome’s radio home for Atlanta Braves baseball in 2018. The team will open the second half of the season this weekend in Washington DC against the Nationals. Friday night’s opener is scheduled to get underway at 7:05 pm at Nationals Park.
In a minor league update, the Rome Braves’ game that was slated for Monday night against the Augusta Greenjackets in Augusta was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as a part of a double header today at 12:05 pm.
