The 5th annual Big Fibbers Storytelling Festival will take place this weekend.  Highlights will include the 243rd annual Big Fibbers Contest, which is slated for Saturday at 5 pm at the Rome City Auditorium downtown.  Terrell Shaw, President of the Ridge and Valley Storytelling Guild, refers to the event as a ‘liars’ contest’.

The competition for adults will be preceded by the Debby Brown YoungTales Storytelling Competition at 2 pm, also at the City Auditorium.

This year’s festival will be co-headlined by nationally-recognized storytellers Andy Offutt Irwin and Bil Lepp.  The pair will have audiences ‘rolling in the aisle’ with laughter, enthuses Shaw.

The pair will take the stage at the City Auditorium for Opening Night of the festival this Friday night at 8 pm. They will perform again on Saturday night, after engaging with other storytelling enthusiasts at workshops to be held that morning.

Full festival swatches may be purchased in advance at a cost of $25 each on the event website,  You can also learn more about this year’s storytellers and get a full festival schedule on the website.
