The Atlanta Braves defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 11-4 on Tuesday night in the opener of a two-game interleague series at Toronto.

Atlanta’s highlights of the night included the first career grand slam for Johan Camargo; it came in the top of the second inning.

Camargo ultimately went 4-for-5 in the game.  Charlie Culberson contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth.

Mike Soroka, a native of Canada, did not qualify to get the win in his home country after surrendering four runs and eight hits, walking two and striking out two over four and two third innings.  Sam Freeman was credited with the win in relief for the Braves.

The Braves will conclude their brief set in Toronto against the Blue Jays this afternoon at 12:37 pm.  The outing will not be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 as we air Rush Limbaugh at that time.  WLAQ will resume coverage from the Braves Radio Network this weekend as the Braves return to SunTrust Park to host the Baltimore Orioles.

In a minor league update, the Southern Division beat the Northern Division by a final score of 9-5 on Tuesday night in this year’s South Atlantic League All-Star Game at Greensboro, NC.  The Rome Braves will begin the second half of the season on Thursday night in Augusta versus the Greenjackets.
