MLB’s Opening Day is on the books!  The Atlanta Braves opened their 2019 regular season with a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies 10-4 at Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon.

The Phillies notched a total of three home runs off starter Julio Teheran and the Braves bullpen.  The biggest hit was a grand slam from Rhys Hoskins off Luke Jackson in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Bryce Harper, former Washington National, went 0-for-3 with an intentional walk in his regular season debut with Philadelphia. That intentional walk set the stage for Hoskins’ grand slam.

Andrew McCutchen, another addition to the Phillies for 2019, led the game off with a home run off Teheran, who took the loss for Atlanta.

Highlights for the Braves included a pinch-hit, two-run homer off the bat of Matt Joyce in the top of the seventh.

Today is an off day for the Braves and the Phillies.  The teams will continue their three-game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Saturday.  First pitch is set for 4:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 and the new 96.9 FM.  Air time is 2:50 pm from the Braves Radio Network.
