The Atlanta Braves defeated the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Thursday night in the opener of a four game series at SunTrust Park, marking the third straight win for the Braves.

Atlanta’s offensive highlights included a solo home run by Ender Inciarte to  lead off the bottom of the fifth inning.

Anibal Sanchez was credited with win after giving up just four hits in seven scoreless innings; he did not walk a batter.  Arodys Vizcaino got the save; it was his 13th of the season.

The Braves are now 12 games above .500 and lead the National League East by a game and a half over Washington.  They’ll host the Padres again tonight at 7:35 pm.  Listen to the game on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves lost to the Greenville Drive 3-2 in 11 innings on Thursday night at Greenville, SC.  However, an Augusta loss to West Virginia allowed Rome to clinch the first-half title in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division.  The Braves will return to State Mutual Stadium this evening to host the Lexington Legends at 7 pm.
