The Atlanta Braves split a day-night twin bill with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday at Nationals Park in Washington DC. The Nationals took the first game by a final score of 8-3, while the Braves won the nightcap 3-1.
Ender Inciarte gave Atlanta the lead (and ultimately the victory) in game two with a two-run triple in the ninth inning.
Jesse Biddle was credited with the win in relief for the Braves in that second outing, while AJ Minter got the save.
Rome native Charlie Culberson homered in each game; his second home run of the evening tied the nightcap in the sixth.
Washington posted four runs each in the fourth and sixth innings to clinch the victory in the opener.
The Braves will face the Nationals again tonight in game three of a four game series in DC. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 5:50 pm.
In a minor league update, the Rome Braves began a seven-game homestand with a loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds 11-3 on Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium. The teams will meet again tonight at 7 pm.
