BRAVES TOP MARLINS IN WILD NIGHT AT THE BALL PARK

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 5-2 on Wednesday night in the finale of a four-game set at SunTrust Park, allowing Atlanta to sweep the series.  It marked the fifth straight victory for the Braves.

It was a wild night at the ball park as Ronald Acuna Jr. was struck by Marlins starter Jose Urena’s first pitch of the game.  Benches cleared two times before Urena was ejected.  Acuna exited just prior to the second inning.

Acuna had hit lead-off home runs in his previous three games and homered in his last five straight games. The results of an X-ray on his injured elbow were negative; additional test results are expected today.

Dansby Swanson filled in the gap left by Acuna with a two-run homer which gave the Braves the lead in the bottom of the fourth.

The Braves remains atop the NL East by two games over Philadelphia.  They will return to action tonight with the first of four games against the Colorado Rockies.  First pitch is slated for 7:35 pm at SunTrust Park.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Lakewood BlueClaws 7-2 on Wednesday night in Lakewood, NJ. The teams will meet again tonight at 7:05 pm.
