US Congressman Tom Graves has voted in favor of HR 8, the Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act of 2012, which prevents taxes from going up on all Americans. Current tax rates are set to expire on December 31, 2012, resulting in the largest tax hike in American history, according to Graves. In an interview on WLAQ AM 1410’s Good Morning Rome on Wednesday, he said this measure would keep that from happening.
The August First Friday concert will take the stage at Bridgepoint Plaza tomorrow night at 7 pm. This month’s show will feature the music of Cedartown native Sam Hunt, who has been working as a songwriter in Nashville. Hunt wrote a song performed by Kenny Chesney called Come Over that’s currently number two on the country charts, according to Amanda Carter with the Rome Downtown Development Authority.
Totals for Tuesday’s primary election are not final in Floyd County. Voting machine failure at the Alto Park precinct is what led to the hold up. Some 85 votes now hang in the balance. Floyd County Elections officials expect to have the results by tomorrow.
The month of July has come and gone, and with it, the July 31st primary election.
