Blaine Williams, who currently serves as interim Floyd County Manager, is the front runner to take the job permanently.  He is expected to be appointed to the job in 14 days.  Interviews were conducted yesterday with four candidates for the position.  Two of them have withdrawn their applications.  According to state law, a waiting period of 14 days must be observed before Williams can be confirmed as county manager.  Williams has been the assistant county manager since 2007.  He is serving as interim manager following the resignation of Kevin Poe, who is leaving Floyd County to become the manager of Jackson County.
