Shorter University men’s basketball will take to the airwaves of 95.7 FM The Ridge this evening as the number one Hawks seek to remain undefeated in a non-conference match with Point University in East Point, Georgia. The Hawks are 22-0 on the season and have stayed at the top of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll for three straight weeks; they’ll be looking for win number 23 tonight. Tip off is set for 7 pm. The game will also be aired online (on our new and improved website) at www.theridge957.com. We’ll also have coverage of Shorter Hawks and Lady Hawks basketball against Southern Wesleyan this Saturday in Central, South Carolina. Tip off is set for 2 pm for the women and 4 pm for the men.
In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks return to their home court at the Philips Arena to take on the Memphis Grizzlies tonight at 7:30 pm. The Hawks just completed a five game road trip to close out the month of January that left them with four wins and one loss. They have 16 wins and six losses overall for the 2011-2012 season.
Shorter University was victorious over Truett McConnell in a couple of Southern States Athletic Conference East matches last night at the Winthrop King Centre on the Shorter campus. The Lady Hawks won their game 67-33. That was followed by a 83-68 victory for the number one Hawks, who remain undefeated with their 22nd straight win of the season. Shorter’s men will be in Atlanta for a 7 pm game with Point University on Thursday night. Both teams will head to Central, South Carolina to take on Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, with the women to play at 2 pm, followed by the men at 4 pm. The Shorter University baseball team picked up a 12-3 win from Edward Waters College yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida. The Hawks will play their 2012 home opener this Saturday against the University of Pikeville at Shorter’s Robert H. Ledbetter Field. The double header is set to begin at 1 pm.
