SHORTER BASEBALL TEAM TO HEAR FROM FUTURE HALL OF FAMER BOBBY COX AT MEET THE TEAM DINNER TOMORROW NIGHT

A baseball legend will be in Rome tomorrow night.  Retired Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox will be the keynote speaker at Shorter University baseball’s 5th annual Meet the Team dinner.  The future Hall of Famer will speak at the dinner at 7 pm at the Huffman Center at Darlington School.  Doors will open at 6 pm with a silent auction that will continue until 6:45 pm.  Shorter head baseball coach Matt Larry says that he doesn’t know what all will be covered in Cox’s speech, but he anticipates that his Hawks will get a lot out of it.

LADY HAWKS FALL TO XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Shorter University’s 18th ranked Lady Hawks lost by a point to Xavier University 60-59 last night at Shorter’s Winthrop King Centre.  We’ll have Shorter University basketball on 95.7 FM The Ridge and online at www.theridge957.com over the weekend.  The Lady Hawks and the Hawks will host Belhaven on Friday night at the Winthrop King Centre.  Tip off is set for the women at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm for the men.  That will be followed by a couple of more home games with William Carey on Saturday; the women will play at 3 pm, followed by the men at 5 pm.
