Shorter University’s 9th ranked Lady Hawks softball team swept a double header with Reinhardt University 7-5 and 6-0 in Waleska, Georgia yesterday. The Lady Hawks will return to action next week at the West Florida Spring Fling to be held at the University of West Florida on March 6th and 7th.
In college baseball, Berry College’s Vikings fell to Covenant 9-7 yesterday at Berry’s William R. Bowdoin Field. The Vikes will return to action this Friday night at 7 pm against Denison.
The 2012 NBA All-Star Break has come and gone, and the Atlanta Hawks will return to action tonight on their home court at the Philips Arena against the Golden State Warriors. Tip off is set for 7:30 pm.

Shorter University’s basketball teams are gearing up for the Southern States Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, which begin tomorrow with opening round play. Men’s opening round and quarterfinals will be played at the Darlington School while women’s opening round and quarterfinals will be played at the Forum in downtown Rome tomorrow and Thursday. Friday’s semifinal round and Saturday’s men’s and women’s championship games will all be played at The Forum. Shorter’s Hawks are the SSAC East’s number one seed and will make their first appearance in this year’s tournament on Thursday at 6 pm at Darlington against the winner of tomorrow’s opening round game between East No. 5 seed Brewton-Parker and West No. 4 seed Mobile. The Lady Hawks are the SSAC East’s number two seed and will open the conference tournament on Thursday at 3 pm at the Forum in downtown Rome against West No. 3 seed Faulkner.
