UNITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FORFEITS ICSGA TITLE

It was a time of celebration for the Unity Christian School Lions football team right before Thanksgiving when the team won the ICSGA state championship by defeating defending champion Covenant Christian in overtime.  Sadly, that title and all of UCS’s wins from the 2011 season were forfeited yesterday due to eligibility violations.  The move was made following an investigation into a concern that UCS violated one of the league’s policies involving home-schooled players.  It has been determined that two such players have exhausted their eligibility under ICSGA guidelines as they were considered “fifth-year seniors” based on academic credits.
The school itself reported what was found to be a violation in the ICSGA investigation.
