The Atlanta Falcons beat Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers with a nice come-from-behind victory of 31-23 in Charlotte, North Carolina yesterday. With the win, the Falcons improve their record to eight wins and five losses so far for the 2011 season. They’ll host the Jacksonville Jaguars this Thursday night at 8:20 pm at the Georgia Dome. It’s a big day for Calhoun High School as their football team is bound for the Georgia Dome for the Class AA state championship game. The Yellow Jackets will face Buford for the fourth straight year in the title game at 4:30 pm.

The Hawks, whose number 5 ranking in the latest NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll is the highest in Shorter’s history, will travel to Dayton, Tennessee for the Bryan College Classic. They’ll face Tennessee Wesleyan tonight at 6 pm and take on tournament host Bryan tomorrow night at 6 pm. Both games will be aired on 95.7 FM The Ridge and online at www.theridge957.com. Shorter’s 18th ranked Lady Hawks will be in Brunswick, Georgia to face Coastal Georgia tomorrow evening at 5:30 pm.
