The 2018 MetroPCS Corky Kell Classic is coming to Rome!  The annual series of high school football games will open in Rome on the evening of Thursday, August 16th at Barron Stadium with a doubleheader to feature Ridgeland versus Calhoun and Rome versus Marietta.

A luncheon was held on Tuesday at the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center on West Third to promote the Corky Kell Classic.

The three-day, three-venue event will proceed from Rome to Atlanta for games at Georgia State Stadium on Friday, August 17th and at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, August 18th.  A total of nine high school football games will take place during the three-day Classic.

Dave Hunter, Executive Director of the Corky Kell Classic, is excited about the quality of this year’s venues as well as this year’s teams.

The Corky Kell Classic is named for the former Wheeler High School coach who helped to start the event.  Money raised from the event will go towards the Corky Kell Scholarship Fund.
