Get ready for the ‘best end-of-the-summer party on the planet’; it is scheduled to take place this Saturday night at Heritage Park in downtown Rome. The annual River Revelry: A Biodiversity Bash, hosted by (and a fundraiser for) the Coosa River Basin Initiative, will be held from 6 pm until 10 pm on the banks of the Coosa River.
The event will feature live music from Bennie Gray and the Trailer Park Cowboys, silent and live auctions, boat rides on the Roman Holiday and a lip sync competition featuring local celebrities, as well as adult beverages.
New this year – the Taco Take-Down, a competition to see who serves the best tacos in Rome. It takes the place of the Barbecue Battle that was, for a number of years, one of the highlights of River Revelry. Think you make a mean taco? There’s still time to register to compete in the Taco Take-Down, according to CRBI director Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman.
Demonbreun-Chapman refers to River Revelry as a fundraiser that just happens to be a lot of fun. It is also intended to celebrate the biological diversity of the Coosa River basin.
Tickets to River Revelry: A Biodiversity Bash are $45 per individual, $40 per person for two or more and are available online at www.coosa.org. For more information, call the CRBI at (706) 232-2724.
