The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that it will break ground this Friday on a new facility for its District Six office in Northwest Georgia.  The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 2 pm at the project site adjacent to 21 Voestalpine Drive in White, Georgia.

Construction of the building, located eight miles north of the current District Six office, is expected to be completed within 10 months.

GDOT District Six operates and maintains the state transportation system for the 17 counties of Northwest Georgia.  Their current headquarters, south of Cartersville, has been in operation for almost 60 years, according to a release from the department.  The new facility will provide upgrades to technology and accessibility.
