The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints 20-17 in a showdown between NFC South rivals on Thursday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, helping the Falcons’ (and hurting the Saints’) playoff chances.

Deion Jones intercepted a Drew Brees pass with less than two minutes left to allow the Falcons to hang on for the victory.

Atlanta is now 8-5 and within a game of division-leading New Orleans (who is now 9-4) with three weeks remaining in the regular season.  The Carolina Panthers also keep playoff hopes alive with eight wins and four losses.

The Falcons are off until Monday, December 18th, at which time they will go head to head with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Monday Night Football at Tampa Bay.
