The Floyd County Board of Commissioners is slated to meet today. They’ll convene for a caucus session at 4 pm, which will be followed by their regular meeting at 6 pm at the county’s Administration Building on East 4th Avenue in downtown Rome. Both gatherings are open to the public.
On today’s agenda – the first of three public hearings concerning the county’s property tax rate for 2018. Commissioners announced this past Friday their plans to increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 1.54 percent over the rollback millage rate. Additional hearings are set for Tuesday, July 24th at 8 am and 6 pm. If approved, the proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 would be approximately $9.
