Floyd Medical Center’s President and CEO Kurt Stuenkel was installed as chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Hospital Association at the association’s annual convention last week in Atlanta.  He succeeds 2012 Chair William T. Moore, President and CEO of Atlanta Medical Center, according to an FMC media release.

Stuenkel has served as Floyd’s President and CEO since January 1996 and has worked at FMC since 1981.  Under his leadership, Floyd has been named Large Hospital of the Year three times by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, was ranked number 27 among America’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, and consistently ranks among the highest rated employers in the nation by HR Solutions Inc. for employee satisfaction.  Floyd earned six 2011 VHA Georgia Leadership Awards for clinical and operational process improvements.

Joseph Parker, President of GHA, states, “We are privileged to have Stuenkel lead our Board.  He is an innovative, dynamic health care leader who is highly regarded throughout the state.  His vast experience and leadership success in many areas make him the ideal person to lead our association during these challenging times.”
