In other news from the Georgia Department of Labor, Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits for the nation’s long-term unemployed works is set to end on Saturday, December 28th, which is expected to have an impact on 39,559 workers in Georgia.

EUC is a federally funded benefit for long-term unemployed workers who have exhausted regular state unemployment insurance (UI) benefits.  The maximum weekly benefit is $330, while the most recent average weekly benefit is $253.

Extension programs are enacted by the US Congress.  If legislation is passed to extend the EUC program, the Georgia DOL will inform affected workers by way of an announcement on the department’s website at and the department’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.
