The American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia is searching for a few (really) good volunteers.
Add Layson, Chairman of the local Red Cross’ Board of Directors, says that the organization now has about 60 volunteers around Northwest Georgia, and even more are being sought to provide assistance to those impacted by severe weather, house fires and other disasters.
Since last June, this Red Cross chapter has responded to some 120 disasters, according to Layson, who attests that volunteers also educate students around the area on how to respond to such disasters.
Volunteers are needed to help with disasters, training and even clerical work, asserts Layson.
Interested parties may learn more about volunteering with the American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia during the next volunteer meeting, scheduled for February 26th at the chapter’s Calhoun office. Volunteer information may also be found on the organization’s website at www.redcross.org.
