The American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia has been making strides in recent days in its Home Fire campaign. They have teamed with community organizations around the region to install smoke detectors, free of charge, at the homes of those in need.
Larry Brooks, the chapter’s Executive Director, says that the local Red Cross has been reaching out to local students for assistance with the area’s bilingual population.
In 2017, the chapter installed smoke detectors in some 1,000 homes. Brooks hopes that number will be surpassed in 2018.
Home fires are among the top disasters to which the American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia responds each year.
