As the month of April continues, so does the annual observation of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  The Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia has been busy with numerous events all month long to raise awareness of sexual assault, including Sexual Assault Awareness night at the Rome Braves game last night.  A flash mob danced at State Mutual Stadium prior to the game as part of the Center’s activities.

There is one more major event lined up for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, according to the SAC’s Executive Director Kim Davis.  It is a Speak Out set for Tuesday, April 23rd at 7 pm in the courtyard at the First Baptist Church of Rome.  Davis says that a dynamic speaker is lined up for the Speak Out.  Susan Cash is a survivor of childhood incest and of rape as an adult.

Davis indicates that many cases of sexual assault are related to a struggle for power.  In fact, that’s the story for 90 percent of those cases.
