LOCALS TO HONOR VETERANS THIS WEEKEND

Written by Elizabeth Davis. Posted in News & Weather

Veterans Day is this Sunday, November 11th, and locals will join with people across the nation in honoring our veterans for their service.

The Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club of Rome have scheduled a special Veterans Appreciation Day event for Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm on the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome.

John Fortune, event organizer, says that Veterans Appreciation Day is open to the public, whether or not you are a veteran. It will prove to be an educational experience for many.

A Community Yard Sale and Bake Sale will be held this Saturday at 8 am at  American Legion Post 52, located at 1205 Calhoun Road in Rome.  The post will also sell barbecue plates later in the day.

The public is also invited to attend the annual Veterans Day program set for this Sunday at 11 am at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.  The service will be followed by lunch at American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 on Shorter Avenue.
