Mike Mathews, manager of the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport/Admiral John H. Towers Field, will soon leave Floyd County to take a new job as the Director of the Athens-Ben Epps Airport.  He will assume his new post with the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government on July 9th, 2018, according to Manager Blaine Williams (who previously served as County Manager for Floyd County).

Mathews has served as Rome’s airport manager since 1997.  Upon arrival at the Athens airport, he will replace their Interim Director David Fluck.  Fluck will remain as Central Services Director.
