MORE DETAILS RELEASED IN COWLING’S RESIGNATION AS PARKS AND REC DIRECTOR

Details have been released by Floyd County pertaining to the resignation of Kevin Cowling as Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Director.

Cowling officially tendered his resignation to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord on Monday.  Later in the day, two employees, protected by the county’s Civil Service System, were placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

In spite of insinuation, no law enforcement agencies have been involved, according to the media release by Floyd County. Due to its status as an active internal investigation involving personnel, no mention of this action was included in the media release that was issued earlier in the week to announce Cowling’s resignation.  At the conclusion of this investigation and conclusion  of any potential action involving the county’s Personnel Board, information will be made public.

At this time, all daily operations at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation will remain on their normal schedule, like registration, special events, camps and event rentals.
