Do you make a mean pot of chili? If your answer is yes, enter to compete in the 23rd annual Trout Unlimited Chili Cook-Off. This year’s Chili Cook-Off is slated for Saturday, October 20th at Ridgeferry Park. Gates will open to the public at 10:30 am.
Ronny Cooper, Coosa Valley chapter #519 of Trout Unlimited, says that this year’s event was moved from the traditional date of the second Saturday in October so as to avoid competing with this year’s Wings Over North Georgia air show. Cooper anticipates cooler weather and family fun at the 2018 Chili Cook Off.
Registration opened on September 1st. Teams may register to compete in the 2018 Trout Unlimited Chili Cook Off online at http://coosavalley.tu.org or by calling Ronny Cooper at (706) 767-0776.
A panel of judges will determine the best entries in the Chili Cook Off. The top five will receive trophies, and cash prizes will be bestowed upon the top three. Competitors also have a shot at People’s Choice Awards, which will be determined by event attendees.
Cooper adds that a First Responders competition has been added to this year’s Chili Cook-Off.
Admission to the event is $5; children five and under will be admitted free of charge. Parking will cost $5 south of the railroad tracks, but Cooper says that attendees may park for free north of the tracks.
