Progress continues on the Rome City Schools College and Career Academy, according to Holly Amerman, CEO.

A groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held on the project in January, attests Amerman.  The facility is scheduled to officially open its doors in fall of 2020.  Work to build the academy itself, she adds, is underway now.

The 89,000 square foot facility will be perfectly tailored to pathways offered by the RCS College and Career Academy.  Amerman affirms that the students are very much involved with the development of the school.

Some 21 different pathways will be offered, from advanced manufacturing to cyber security to automotive and more.  All are designed to meet the needs of business and industry in the community, says Amerman.

Amerman credits Rome-Floyd Chamber staff and members of the academy’s advisory board for their assistance with the project.  Updates concerning the Rome City Schools College and Career Academy are posted often on the city schools’ website at, states Amerman, who advises those who would like to contribute to the project to contact her at the RCS Central Office.
