RAIN HOLDS OFF LONG ENOUGH FOR CAVE SPRING CHRISTMAS PARADE TO PROCEED AS PLANNED ON THURSDAY

The rain held off long enough for the annual Cave Spring Christmas Parade to proceed as planned on Thursday evening.

Larry Hesterle, co-organizer, says that the parade has been a tradition in Cave Spring for at least 35 years.  It started off small and has grown over the years, just like the Cave Spring 4th of July Parade.  The Christmas Parade originated with the late Kenneth Kelley, who Hesterle attests ‘lit the place up’ during the event’s early days.

This year’s parade had been postponed from last Saturday to Thursday night due to inclement weather.  Cave Spring’s Downtown Development Authority director Sandra Lindsey and husband Larry served as Grand Marshalls. Santa and Mrs. Claus set up shop in the downtown gazebo for pictures with the kids upon the parade’s conclusion.
