Get ready to bundle up, Rome, Georgia (if you haven’t already)! Forecasters predict that temperatures will dip below the freezing point over the weekend in our area, and there’s even a slight chance of snow in the forecast in higher elevations for tonight and into tomorrow.
Regardless of what takes place weather-wise in the coming days, now is a good time to prepare for winter weather, attests Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency. He urges local residents to have the supplies that you need in the event that you are stuck at home, or worse, in your car, due to inclement conditions at any point this winter.
Local veterinarians (and other concerned citizens) are advising the public to bring their pets inside as the deep freeze sets in. If you are not able to bring your outdoor pets indoors, at least provide them with some type of shelter to shield them from the cold. Also, keep an eye on the elderly!
