The Rome Downtown Development Authority has officially approved a new parking plan for submission to the Rome City Commission. It is intended to increase the amount of free parking downtown and eliminate the 2-hour limit, according to a media release from the City of Rome. This plan also includes enhancements to safety, cleanliness and access to the parking decks located in downtown Rome.
The expanded Free Parking Program would provide one hour of free parking on street. It also eliminates the two-hour parking limit and shifts to unlimited street parking. On-street parking costs would be as follows:
First hour – FREE
2nd hour – $1
3rd – $2
4th hour and on – $5 per hour
These charges would be imposed each Monday through Saturday from 10 am until 8 pm.
Free parking would be available at all public parking decks to include decks on Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue and Sixth Avenue.
Those with questions concerning downtown parking are advised to contact Becky Smyth, Parking Services Manager, at (706) 236-4520 or via email at email@example.com.
