The Rome-Floyd Chamber held its 107th Annual Meeting on Thursday night in the Aviation Training Center of Georgia Northwestern Technical College at the Russell Regional Airport.

Greene’s Jewelers was named Small Business of the Year at the meeting.  In addition, Stephanie Nichols was honored as Ambassador of the Year.

Pete McDonald officially assumed the post of Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors; the gavel was passed to GNTC’s President by outgoing Chair John Quinlivan of Redmond Regional Medical Center.

McDonald enthuses that the Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past year and to look forward to what’s ahead for this new year.

Record-setting numbers in terms of job creation and growth in the labor force for Georgia in 2017 leads McDonald to anticipate a bright future in 2018 as it pertains to workforce development.

Quinlivan adds that 2017 was a ‘great year’ that began with the rebranding of the Chamber and continued with the addition of many new businesses to the community.  He expects this momentum to carry over into 2018.

Both McDonald and Quinlivan pledged their support of the Chamber’s efforts to create new jobs in the community during this new year.
