ROME FLOYD SPORTS HALL OF FAMER WAYNE MINSHEW DIES

Rome Floyd Sports Hall of Famer Wayne Minshew has passed away.  He died at the age of 78 on Wednesday in Calhoun.

Minshew started his career as a professional baseball player before moving into the field of journalism.  The University of Georgia graduate spent 13 years with the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, where he served as the first beat writer for the Atlanta Braves.  He eventually became the Braves’ public relations director.

Minshew was also an avid community volunteer.

A memorial service for Wayne Minshew is set for this Saturday, May 2nd at 2 pm at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 224 Trammell Street in Calhoun.
