An auction held on Saturday at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds netted more than $1 million in proceeds for the Floyd County Schools.  The auction was part of a settlement in a civil action case against former maintenance director Derry Richardson and others that have been accused of stealing millions from the school system.  Richardson’s home in Summerville was among the items that were on the auction block; it sold for $390,000.
