The Shorter University men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped a pair of Gulf South Conference outings with the University of Alabama-Huntsville last night in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Lady Hawks were defeated by the Lady Chargers 73-58 to fall to 5-16 overall and 3-12 in the GSC.  Turnovers proved to be Shorter’s downfall.  Shaundrika Mann led the Lady Hawks in scoring with a team-high 14 points off the bench.  Ieshia Alexander and Karisma Boykin also finished with double figures for Shorter with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Shorter men were handed a dose of payback last night as Alabama-Huntsville, who lost to the Hawks last month in Rome, cruised to a 108-70 victory on their home turf.  Brandon Pullman was the top scorer for Shorter with 21 points.  Jordan Jacks added 17 points, while Dedric Ware contributed 12 points.  With last night’s loss, the Hawks fall to 8-13 overall and 5-10 in conference play.

Shorter’s basketball teams will welcome West Alabama to town for more Gulf South Conference action on Sunday.  The women will play at 2 pm, followed by the men at 4 pm at Shorter’s Winthrop King Centre.  Coverage will be provided on 95.7 FM The Ridge and
