Rome-based End Slavery Georgia is seeking the community’s support in assisting victims of human trafficking across the state.
Thom Holt, co-founder of End Slavery Georgia, says that the mission of his organization is to rescue, restore and rebuild those who have fallen prey to sex trafficking, a tragedy that occurs even in our own neighborhood. Efforts are being made to educate the public on this issue and to rally legislators for tougher laws against the sex trade.
End Slavery Georgia is currently working towards establishing a shelter that will serve as the headquarters for comprehensive services offered to those it rescues. Of course, such a monumental project requires funding. Holt says that, since its inception last year, the organization has made ‘pretty good progress’ towards that goal.
In addition, survivors have been provided the opportunity to gain valuable work experience via an e-Bay store which also serves as a fund-raising arm for the non-profit.
