Written by Elizabeth Davis. Posted in News & Weather

The 22nd annual Trout Unlimited Chili Cook-Off is set for this Saturday at Ridgeferry Park in Rome.  Gates will open at 10:30 am.

Attendees of the Chili Cook-Off will be able select their favorite cook team for the “People’s Choice” Award.  Teams will also compete for the “Judge’s Choice” and “Best Team Site” awards.

Bill Summer, outgoing TU board member, says that there will be plenty of chili for everyone to enjoy on Saturday (as well as adult beverages).

Admission to the Chili Cook-Off is $5 per person; kids ages five and under will be admitted free.  Parking north of the railroad tracks is free, parking south of the tracks is $5.

Proceeds from the event will support educational programs funded by the Coosa Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited, such as the Arrowhead Education Center and the Rome-Floyd ECO River Education Center.

The Animal Rescue Foundation (or ARF) will host a Car and Truck Show at the Chili Cook-Off from 8 am until 2 pm, with registration to be held from 8 am until 10 am.  Trophies will be awarded for Top 10, Best of Show and People’s Choice.  The entry fee is $20; goody bags will be given to the first 40 entries.  T-shirts will be available at a cost of $5 each.  There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
