Help is wanted for the 29th annual Thanksgiving Love Feast! This year’s feast, sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Rome and Floyd County, will be served free of charge on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 23rd) at the Rome Civic Center from 11 am until 2 pm (or until food runs out).
The meal is offered to anyone that does not have the means to prepare and enjoy their own Thanksgiving dinner. Not only do the Concerned Citizens want to feed attendees’ bellies, they also want to feed souls, states Reverend Terrell Shields, who indicates that there will be good food and good company for anyone who comes to the table.
Donations of food and money are being sought for the Love Feast, attests Shields, who also requests donations of winter coats and jackets that will be offered to those in need.
Coats and jackets may be dropped off at the Civic Center between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, along with cakes, pies and other desserts.
Those who would like to volunteer their time at the Love Feast are asked to call (706) 234-2091 to find out when volunteers are most needed.
Pizza will be served at the Love Feast courtesy of Pizza Hut to those who are not too fond of the traditional turkey and dressing served on Thanksgiving.
